1. Daimler Truck has introduced a new all-electric medium-duty truck lineup called Rizon, aimed at Class 4 and Class 5 vehicles.
2. Rizon is a response to states like California, which require 50% of all new commercial vehicles to be zero emission in approximately 12 years.
3. The California-based Rizon brand will offer three trucks with a gross vehicle weight ranging from 15,995 to 17,995 pounds, the heaviest having a triple battery pack with a 160-mile range.
4. Daimler Trucks already offers a range of electrified commercial vehicles, with the Rizon brand adding to its medium-duty Class 4 and 5 options by the end of 2023.
5. The Rizon brand was created after Daimler Truck's Mitsubishi Fuso withdrew its medium-duty trucks from the U.S. market in 2020.
6. Rizon will offer three trucks—the e18L, e16L, and e16M—with varying battery pack sizes and ranges up to 160 miles.
7. Rizon trucks will utilize a J1772 CCS combo charger port for both AC and DC Fast Charging.
8. The trucks are designed for typical medium-duty applications like flatbeds, dump beds, and refrigerated cargo boxes, and are aimed at urban areas with short drives and stop-and-go situations.
9. The Rizon brand will be sold through a distributor, Velocity Vehicle Group, a California-based commercial truck seller and service company.
2. Rizon trucks will carry a five-year, 75,000-mile warranty on the powertrain, chassis, and cab, and a five-year or 120,000-mile warranty for the battery packs.
