1. Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD trucks from 2019 to 2023 are being recalled due to a fire hazard.
2. The trucks' brake pressure sensor assembly poses a risk of catching fire.
3. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from buildings.
4. Brake fluid can seep into the electrical connection for the sensor, causing a short circuit and potential fire.
5. The issue arises from a zinc nickel plating and sealant used in the sensor that delaminates.
6. Only one fire has occurred, but 20 other vehicles showed signs of seeping and heat damage to the sensor and harness.
7. Navistar, the sensor manufacturer, has also reported a potential incident with similar damage.
8. A new pressure sensor without the problematic sealant was introduced by Navistar on March 21, 2023.
9. Currently, there are not enough new sensors in production to cover the 40,428 affected vehicles.
10. GM will send interim notifications on May 29, advising owners to park away from fire hazards and detailing plans for sensor and wire harness replacements.
